Glossary Term Sex Chromosome
Definition Either of two chromosomes that are sexually dimorphic in species with chromosomal (as opposed to genic) sex determination. In mammals, males are the heterogametic sex, having an X chromosome and a Y chromosome, while females are the homogametic sex, having two X chromosomes.
