Glossary Term Hierarchy
Definition An organization with few things, or one thing, at the top and with several things below each other thing. An inverted tree structure. An example in computing is a directory hierarchy where each directory may contain files or other directories. In MGI, it refers to terms in a controlled vocabulary such as ones containing Gene Ontology (GO) terms or to the Mouse Developmental Anatomy Browser.
