Glossary Term Hemizygous
Definition The state of a locus in a diploid organism, where only one copy of the locus is present. Examples are sex-linked genes in normal mammalian males, insertions such as transgenic insertions, and autosomal alleles in combination with deletions that remove entire gene regions.
