Targeted Allele Detail
Symbol: Sox2tm1(cre/ERT2)Hoch
Name: SRY (sex determining region Y)-box 2; targeted mutation 1, Konrad Hochedlinger
MGI ID: MGI:5295990
Synonyms: Sox2-CreER
Gene: Sox2  Location: Chr3:34650405-34652461 bp, + strand  Genetic Position: Chr3, 16.93 cM, cytoband A2-B
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:177655
Parent Cell Line:  v6.5 (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  (C57BL/6 x 129S4/SvJae)F1
Allele Type:    Targeted (Inducible, Recombinase)
Inducer:    tamoxifen
Mutation:    Insertion
Mutation detailsA targeting construct encoding a cre recombinase/mutated estrogen ligand binding-domain (cre/ERT2) fusion sequence and an Frt-flanked neo cassette was targeted to the Sox2 locus in V6.5 ES cells, so that cre was under control of endogenous Sox2 regulatory elements. Chimeric mice were bred to 129/SvJae wild-type animals to test for germline transmission and to establish stable lines. (J:177655)
