• myelin sheaths are thinner in 15-day-old mice, with increased average g-ratios

• myelin sheaths are thicker in 28-day-old mice and in 2-month old mice, with reduced average g-ratios, indicating that the increase in myelin thickness persists into adolescence

|
• mice show decreased myelin thickness in the corpus callosum at 14 days of age and increased myelin thickness at 28 days of age, indicating positive regulation of myelin in the early myelinating period and negative regulation of myelination in the later period
• mice show decreased MBP staining and decreased MBP and CNPase expression levels at 14 days of age, but increased levels at 28 days of age
• however, the number of oligodendrocytes are unchanged and staining for the astrocyte maker GFAP and neuron maker NeuN are normal
