• mice infected with Schistosoma mansoni show a normal acute and chronic response to infection, showing comparable size and eosinophil content of granulomas surrounding eggs in the liver as in wild-type mice, with no differences in plasma levels of aspartate transaminase and normal downmodulation of inflammatory responses in chronic stages of infection
• mice injected intravenously with schistosome eggs evoke granulomatous inflammation around eggs trapped in the lungs similarly as wild-type mice with no differences in pulmonary egg granulomas
