cardiovascular system
• 2.5 fold increase in mononuclear cardiomyocyte frequency
• 3 fold increase in mononuclear diploid cardiomyocytes (MNDCMs)
• following coronary ligation, a 3 fold increase in proliferating (EdU-labelled) cardiomyocytes is observed at the injury border zone as compared to controls
• this cardiomyocyte population exhibits an increase in tetraploid nuclei
• 58.4% of EdU-labelled cardiomyocytes complete cytokinesis as compared to 14.8% in controls
