cardiovascular system
• hearts exhibit more severe cellular hypertrophy, myocyte disorganization and small vessel pathology than hemizygous mice
• hearts exhibit small vessel pathology
• mitral valves are thickened with fibrous plaques, and frequent thrombus formation
• mean heart weight-to-tibia length ratio is increased in 10 month old female mice
• systolic anterior wall thickness is greater in 6 month old females
• however, no hypertrophy of the posterior wall in systole or diastole is seen
• echocardiograms of 6 month old females indicated greater anterior wall hypertrophy than in hemizygous mice
• however, systolic function, as assessed by left ventricular shortening fraction, does not differ from wild-type mice

• frequent thrombus formation in mitral valves
