cardiovascular system
• absolute heart weight and ratio of heart to body weight are increased by 28% and 21%, respectively
• absolute heart weight and ratio of heart to body weight are increased by 28% and 21%, respectively
• however, no evidence of fibrosis and no difference in systolic blood pressure
• wall thickness at end-diastole of the anterior (AWTh), and posterior (PWTh), and left ventricular mass are increased, indicating concentric hypertrophy
• baseline calcium level is slightly lower and amplitude of the calcium transient is decreased in isolated cardiomyocytes
• times from start to 80% decay of the calcium signal and 50% decay of the calcium signal are prolonged in cardiomyocytes indicating that myofilament sensitivity to calcium is increased in hearts
• percentage of cardiomyocyte shortening is slightly decreased
