• expression analysis indicates a defect in development of excitatory presynapses in the dentate gyrus
• reduced field excitatory postsynaptic potential (fEPSP) responses in dentate gyrus molecular layer
• reduction in mEPSC frequency but not amplitude specifically on dentate gyrus granule neurons but not CA1 neurons
