hematopoietic system
N
• granulocyte and monocyte differentiation is normal
• production of active oxygen species (ROS) and degranulation occur with increased frequency
• 50% of mutant granulocytes respond to stimulation with N-formyl-methionine-leucine-phenylalanine (fMLP) compared to 10% of control cells
• similar results when stimulated by LPS, GM-CSF, or reduced temperature
• reduced binding, uptake, and phagocytosis of Listeria monocytogenes by granulocytes but only in the presence of serum IgM
• reduced binding in the absence of IgM is comparable to control granulocytes

immune system

• reduced binding in the absence of IgM is comparable to control granulocytes
• decreased IL-6 production
• decreased TNF-alpha production
• granulocytes are resistant to LPS induced mortality
• increased titers of Listeria in spleen, liver, and brain tissue 3 days after infection
• increased number of bacteria in granulomas
• increased myeloperoxidase in serum after Listeria infection of live mice
• increased mortality due to Listeria infection

mortality/aging
• granulocytes are resistant to LPS induced mortality
• increased mortality due to Listeria infection
