mortality/aging
• mice survive infection with intermediate doses of MCMV unlike wild-type mice
• mice survive longer following infection with high doses of MCMV compared to wild-type mice
• more resistant to H1N1PR8 infection associated with an increase frequency of IFNG producing NK cells in the lungs

immune system
• increase in the frequency of IFNG producing NK cells in the lungs 2 -3 days after H1N1PR8 infection
• decrease in the frequency of IFNG producing CD4+ cells following MCMV infection
• decrease in the number of CD8+ T cells specific for the immunodominant MCMV peptide m45 presented by H-2Db in the spleen at 7 and 10 days after MCMV infection
• decrease in the frequency of IFNG producing CD8+ cells following MCMV infection
• following rechallenge with Listeria monocytogenes expressing ovalbumin (Lm-OVA) the percentage of memory Lm-OVA specific CD8+ cells is reduced
• cultured cells are hyperreactive in response to the prototypic NK cell tumor target cell line, YAC-1, and following stimulation by monoclonal antibody cross-linking to the activating receptor
• in culture stimulated cells are less sensitive to the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase inhibitor wortmannin
• following rechallenge with Lm-OVA the bacterial load in the spleen is elevated compared to wild-type mice
• 4 days after infection with MCMV, viral loads are lower in the spleen and liver compared to wild-type controls
• mice survive infection with intermediate doses of MCMV unlike wild-type mice
• mice survive longer following infection with high doses of MCMV compared to wild-type mice
