• the density of dendritic spines is lower in layer II/III of the temporal cortex compared to in wild-type mice
• cortical neurons exhibit shorter spine length compared with wild-type neurons
• however, dendritic length and number of branch point are normal and hippocampal CA1 pyramidal neurons exhibit normal dendritic spine density, dendritic length, and branch point numbers are normal
• mice exhibit an increase in the proportion of larger synapses compared with wild-type mice
• the number of docked vesicles per bouton is greater than in wild-type neurons
• however, the density of docked vesicles is normal
• the mean amplitude of AMPAR-mediated miniature excitatory postsynaptic currents (mEPSCs) is greater than in wild-type mice
• however, the mean frequency of AMPAR-mediated mEPSCs is normal
