• female mice are fertile
• at stage IX, mice exhibit multinucleate giant cells that populate the lumen of tubules instead of elongating spermatids as in wild-type mice
• in large cysts but not throughout the testes
• at stage IV, not all spermatids exhibit a flattened acrosome as in wild-type mice and exhibit pre-acrosomal vesicles that fail to fuse
• at stage IX, mice exhibit multinucleate giant cells that populate the lumen of tubules instead of elongating spermatids as in wild-type mice
• no elongated spermatids are found at P30
• during spermiogenesis, mice exhibit multinucleate cysts of syncytia with multiple nulcei within each cyst showing a range of acrosome arrest unlike in wild-type mice
• at the round spermatid stage
• however, meiosis is normal
• round sperm do not mature past step 2 and final arrest occurs at step 6 unlike in wild-type mice
