N normal phenotype
cellular
• microvascular endothelial cell proliferation is decreased compared to in wild-type mice

mortality/aging
• many mice die shortly after birth
• most mice die within the first 10 days after birth

respiratory system
• mice exhibit pruning of arteriolar branches and regions of marked capillary hypoperfusion unlike wild-type mice
• mice exhibit a reduction in the numb of small diameter vessels compared with wild-type mice
• however, pulmonary artery pressure is normal in surviving mice
• newborn mice exhibit gross pleural hemorrhage unlike wild-type mice
• at 4 to 7 days after birth, mice exhibit hemorrhage in lung parenchyma unlike wild-type mice
• however, adult mice no longer exhibit pleural hemorrhage
• mice exhibit pruning of arteriolar branches and regions of marked capillary hypoperfusion unlike wild-type mice
• mice exhibit a reduction in the numb of small diameter vessels compared with wild-type mice
• at 3 months, surviving mice exhibit increased air spaces compared with wild-type mice
• severe at birth

nervous system
N
• mice exhibit normal brain morphology
• mice exhibit normal blood brain barrier and cerebral blood flow
• dendritic length of CA1 hippocampal and cortex neurons is decreased compared with dendrites of wild-type neurons
• spine density is decreased compared to in wild-type neurons

cardiovascular system
N
• mice exhibit normal blood brain barrier and cerebral blood flow
• mice exhibit pruning of arteriolar branches and regions of marked capillary hypoperfusion unlike wild-type mice
• mice exhibit a reduction in the numb of small diameter vessels compared with wild-type mice
• however, pulmonary artery pressure is normal in surviving mice
• newborn mice exhibit gross pleural hemorrhage unlike wild-type mice
• at 4 to 7 days after birth, mice exhibit hemorrhage in lung parenchyma unlike wild-type mice
• however, adult mice no longer exhibit pleural hemorrhage
• microvascular endothelial cell proliferation is decreased compared to in wild-type mice

behavior/neurological
• on day 3 of operant training mice make fewer active operant responses with fewer dips and rewards compared with similarly treated wild-type mice

homeostasis/metabolism
• at birth
