• at E12.5, the common peroneal nerve is underdeveloped, especially in the distal limb, compared to in wild-type mice
• at E13.5, the peroneal nerve is thinner than in wild-type mice
• however, the tibial nerve is normal
• superficial and deep branches of the common peroneal nerve are stalled unlike in wild-type mice
