immune system
• there is over a 30% decrease in the number of immature B cells (ie. fraction E cells) found in the bone marrow
• there is about a 40% decrease in the number of transitional T3(A) B cells (i.e. "anergic" B cells) found in the spleen
• there is a 60% increase in the number of early pro-B cells (i.e. fraction B cells) found in the bone marrow of mutant mice
• there is about a 40% decrease in the number of late pro-B cells (i.e. fraction D cells) compared to controls
• there is over a 40% decrease in the number of mature recirculating B cells found in the bone marrow
• there is a over a 40% decrease in the number of B-1a B cells found in the peritoneal cavity
• there is over a 40% decrease in the number of follicular B cells found in the spleen
• there is about a 40% increase in the number of marginal zone B cells found in the spleen
• mean antigen specific IgM levels are one-tenth of that observed in wild-type controls seven days after immunization with the T cell-independent antigen DEX
• sera from 2 of 15 mice demonstrated ANA activity that was above background
