Dock7mnlt/Dock7mnlt mice exhibit a lightened coat color, a belly spot and hypopigmentation of extremities

behavior/neurological
N
• homozygous mutant and wild type C57BL/6J mice exhibit similar locomotor activity; response in the tail-suspension test for depressive behavior; learning as measured by habituation of object exploration; working memory as measured using the Y maze; anxiety-like behavior in a light-dark transfer test; and preference for social familiarity/novelty
• homozygous mutant females are poor mothers, and their pups must be fostered to survive to weaning; this is not true of misty (Dock7m) mothers
• female moonlight mice show a tendency, though not statistically significant (P=0.0619), toward decreased social interaction

limbs/digits/tail
• the distal extremities of the paws of homozygous mutant mice invariably lack pigment
• variable; incompletely penetrant

pigmentation
• white spotting, variable in extent, may be present on the belly; penetrance of this phenotype is incomplete
• hypopigmentation of external genitalia
• the distal extremities of the paws of homozygous mutant mice invariably lack pigment
• variable; incompletely penetrant

homeostasis/metabolism
N
• the bleeding time of homozygous moonlight mice is similar to that of normal controls, indicating normal function of platelet dense granules; this is in contrast to the prolonged bleeding time reported for misty (Dock7m) homozygotes

immune system
N
• in vivo cytotoxic efficiency of natural killer (NK) cells vs. target cells is normal
• resistance of homozygous mutant mice to infection by mouse cytomegalovirus (MCMV), a measure of NK cell function, is similar to that of resistant C57BL/6J control mice as determined by survival and by viral clearance from the spleen at 5 days post infection
• in vivo cytotoxic efficiency of T lymphocytes vs. target cells is normal

hearing/vestibular/ear
N
• homozygous moonlight mice are able to hear

vision/eye
N
• homozygous moonlight mice can see

integument
• white spotting, variable in extent, may be present on the belly; penetrance of this phenotype is incomplete
• hypopigmentation of external genitalia
• the distal extremities of the paws of homozygous mutant mice invariably lack pigment
• variable; incompletely penetrant
