immune system
• mice display significantly higher accumulation of neutrophils in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid after LPS administration compared to wild-type mice
• about twice as many leukocytes bind to mutant endothelial cells in vitro as compared to wild-type leukocytes
• mice have increased numbers of leukocytes adherent to postcapillary venules both in the baseline condition and upon TNF stimulation
• a significant decrease in rolling velocity accompanied by an increase in the fraction of slow-rolling leukocytes is observed in postcapillary venules
• enhanced neutrophil recruitment occurs in these mice with higher accumulation of neutrophils in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid after LPS administration compared to wild-type mice
