• numerous large vacuoles in the lens cortex by 8 months of age
• loss of F-actin in lens fiber cells
• develop in the lenses of one or both eyes within a few weeks or months of birth
• in all homozygotes by 6 months

neoplasm
• increased incidence of lymphoma after 1 year of age
• found in 36% of homozygotes by 18 months
• in lung, liver, intestine, spleen, lymph nodes
• mucosa-associated and follicular lymphomas
• greater sensitivity to radiation induced lung adenocarcinoma
• greater sensitivity to radiation induced lung adenocarcinoma
