• cones exhibit a greatly slowed recovery from strong flashes compared to wild-type cones

• the amplitude of slow tails of recovery are increased compared to in wild-type mice

• S- and M-cone opsin driven dim-flash responses exhibit slow tail in recovery unlike wild-type mice

• however, the peak time of dim-flash response is normal
