immune system
N
• despite defects in lymphoproliferation, immune response to infection with lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) is normal
• B cells are partially protected from CD95-induced apoptosis
• unlike in wild-type mice, CD4+ T cells are resistant to apoptosis induced by low doses but not high doses of anti-CD3
• however, lymphocytes are not protected from staurosporine-induced apoptosis of Bcl-2-regulated spontaneous lymphocyte death in the absence of external stimuli
• T cells are partially protected from CD95-induced apoptosis
• however, lymphocytes are not protected from staurosporine-induced apoptosis of Bcl-2-regulated spontaneous lymphocyte death in the absence of external stimuli
• mice exhibit mild B cell proliferation in secondary lymphoid organs that does not worsen with age
• however, mitogen-induced lymphoproliferation is normal
• 1.5- to 2-fold
• proliferation of lymphocytes is increased compared to in wild-type mice and the ratio of B to T cells is shifted in favor of B cells in lymph nodes associated with an accumulation of mature follicular B cells
• however, lymphoproliferation stimulated by mitogens is normal
• mature follicular B cells accumulate to a greater extent than in wild-type mice
