• after glutamate/repolarization pairing treatment to induce long term depression, LTD is abolished in cultured neurons from double mutants that were transfected with lentiviral EGFP-IRES-Cre to produce conditional deletion of Grip1

• chemical LTD produced by treatment with a PKC-activating phorbol ester is also abolished in double null mutants in contrast to controls or single Grip1- or Grip2-null mice

• Purkinje cells transfected with a plasmid overexpressing Grip1 show complete rescue of pairing- and chemical-induced LTD; overexpression of Grip2 in Purkinje cells results in only partial rescue of LTD
