immune system
• B cells develop inefficiently with a partial block occurring at the transition from pre- to pro- B cells
• immature circulating B cells are at levels that are 80% of normal
• late pro B-cells accumulate at numbers 3- fold higher than in wild-type at the fraction C (CD43+ CD45+ HSAmed BP-1+) step
• the levels of circulating mature B cells are 20% of the numbers found in wild-type
• these B cells express human mu heavy chain
• these mature B cells numbers are twice those found in Ihg-J null mice that are hemizygote for the transgene
• large pre-B cells numbers in the bone marrow are 50% of wild-type
• antibodies containing human mu heavy chains are found in the sera at levels of 60 micrograms per ml
