immune system
• synovial mast cells do not express the mMcp-6 protease
• the number of neutrophils in arthritic synovial tissue is one-third that of C57BL/6 controls
• there is almost a two-fold reduction in the number of eosinophils recruited to sites of T. spiralis infection in tongue skeletal muscle
• there is a signifcant decrease in clinical measurements of joint inflammation induced by Tg(TcraR28,TcrbR28)KRNDim (i.e. K/BxN) mouse serum compared to C57BL/6 controls
• ankle thickness is also less than controls 10 days after arthritis induction
• histological scores of bone and cartilage erosion, as well as inflammation, are also significantly reduced
• mice chronically infected with T. spiralis have significantly higher live worm burden and significantly less percentage of necrotic worm larvae in their tongue skeletal muscle
