hematopoietic system
• the absolute number of spleen colony forming units at day 12 was slightly reduced
• when cultured in a multicytokine mixture, Lin-Sca-1+c-Kit+ (LSK) bone marrow cells display a proliferative disadvantage relative to wild-type cells
• bone marrow cellularity is reduced by about 25% (34+/-5x106 cells in two femurs compared to 45+/-6x106 cells in two femurs in wild-type mice)
• however, cell proliferation is normal
• 7.4+/-0.7x1012 cells/L compared to 8.1+/-0.8x1012 cells/L in wild-type mice
• 139+/-10 g/L compared to 151+/-10 g/L in wild-type mice
• hematopoietic stem cells from mice treated with cyclophosphamide exhibit decreased proliferative capacity compared to cells from similarly treated wild-type mice
• spleen weight is reduced by 30% (70+/-7 mg compared to 103+/-14 mg in wild-type mice)
• spleen cellularity is reduced by 30% (127+/-24x106 cells compared to 187+/-30x106 cells in wild-type mice)
• however, cell proliferation is normal

liver/biliary system
• at E14.5, the number of Lin-ScaI+ AA4.1 cells is reduced (29+/-12x103 cells compared to 49+/-22x103 cells in wild-type mice)

growth/size/body
• mice weight 8% less than wild-type mice at time of weaning
• however, this difference disappears by 12 weeks of age

skeleton
N
• unlike mice carrying Hoxb4tm1.1Karl targeted mutation, formation of the thorax and other skeletal structures is normal

immune system
• spleen weight is reduced by 30% (70+/-7 mg compared to 103+/-14 mg in wild-type mice)
• spleen cellularity is reduced by 30% (127+/-24x106 cells compared to 187+/-30x106 cells in wild-type mice)
• however, cell proliferation is normal
