growth/size/body
• in male mice between 21 and 26 weeks of age, there is a slight but significant decrease in lean body mass (34.6% vs. 36.4% in wild-type mice)
• in mice over one year of age, there is a significant increase in body weight (48.06 g vs. 34.73 g in wild-type mice)

behavior/neurological
• after fasting for 19 hours, food intake is decreased with greater differences occurring in mice over one year of age
• however, under ad libitum feeding, food intake in young (15 - 17 weeks of age) and old (85 weeks of age) mice is similar to wild-type controls

digestive/alimentary system
• male mice have larger stomachs as measured by weight (1395 mg vs. 978 mg for wild-type males)
• male mice under 17 weeks of age grind meal into fine particles significantly faster
• gastric secretion is increased almost 3 fold
• however, pH levels did not change
• gastric emptying is accelerated in male mice
• more effective transit and expulsion of fecal pellets

homeostasis/metabolism
• cholesterol levels are increased in both fasted male and female mice

adipose tissue
• in male mice between 21 and 26 weeks of age, there is an increase in body fat percentage (17.8% vs. 12.7% in wild-type mice)
