abnormal coat appearance ( J:116504 )

• at 5 weeks of age, linear grooves running parallel to longitudinal body axis appear on the coat surface of homozygotes; these are enhanced when hind limbs are strctched backwards

wrinkled skin ( J:116504 )

• upon hair removal, numerous wrinkles are observed in skin of mutants, running parallel to the body, visible when mice are suspended by the tail

• all skin layers are present and there appear to be no defects in epidermal differentiation
