endocrine/exocrine glands
• only small and medium-sized infiltrates develop, and become prominent only at >4 months of age
• fewer and smaller pancreatic infiltrates that are often observed in association with large blood vessels are observed compared to Ccl21b transgenics; B cells are found in greatest numbers in infiltrates, and CD4 T cells are more frequent than CD8 in pancreata of older mice
• infiltrates are less organized than in Ccl21b transgenic mice
• gp38+, BP3+, and ER-TR7+ stromal cell networks appear in infiltrates
• infiltrates display an invasive phenotype with individual T cells frequently seen in the islet cell mass; this is more apparent than in Ccl21b transgenic mice
