cardiovascular system
• at the time of death, heart weight relative to body weight is increased; degree of cardiomegaly is less than in transgenic lines M13 and O7
• modest increase in left ventricular mass reaching significance at 5 weeks of age
• develop a concentric form of left ventricular hypertrophy, maintain near normal systolic function in the first 2 months of life, and subsequently develop heart failure
• wall thickness is increased at 3 weeks of age and remains increased
• exhibit preserved systolic function except at 5 weeks when fractional shortening is slightly but significantly decreased
• 4 month old mutants exhibit decreased left-ventricular systolic function
• develop a concentric form of left ventricular hypertrophy, maintain near normal systolic function in the first 2 months of life, and subsequently develop heart failure
