N normal phenotype
nervous system
• increased branching of the phrenic nerve is seen at P6 and at P70
• the pattern of innervation in the diaphragm is disordered and end-plates scattered over a wider territory with the half-maximum width of distribution increased about 2.2-fold
• however, the cellular and subcellular structure of nerve terminals is similar to wild-type
• only a single class of end-plate channels is present in the foot muscle at P2 and during the second postnatal week of life, in contrast to the 2 classes seen in wild-type mice

muscle
N
• morphology of the soleus muscle is normal

behavior/neurological
N
• no balance or locomotor coordination abnormalities are seen
