limbs/digits/tail
• at E9.5, the unsegmented mesoderm of the tail tip often appears more loosely knit
• more neural tissue is seen in the tail beginning at E11
• a reduction is seen in the ventral ectodermal ridge of the tail
• decreased tail size can be distinguished at E11

embryo
• at E10 the ventral aspect of the neural tube separates from the rest by a capillary cleft and at E11 in some embryos multiple structures resembling neural tubes are seen surrounding a central blood vessel
• more neural tissue is seen in the tail beginning at E11

nervous system
• at E10 the ventral aspect of the neural tube separates from the rest by a capillary cleft and at E11 in some embryos multiple structures resembling neural tubes are seen surrounding a central blood vessel

digestive/alimentary system
• the tail gut (a diverticulum of the cloaca) does not extend as deeply into the tail in homozygotes
