N normal phenotype
mortality/aging
• only 12% of pups from heterozygous matings are homozygous and at E13.5 only 16% of embryos are homozygous

reproductive system
• more apoptotic cells are seen in the tubules compared to wild-type mice
• the genital tract is involuted
• dense fibrovascular stoma is seen
• complete absence of oocytes
• no mature sperm or spermatids are seen and testes are almost depleted of primary spemtocytes by 19 days of age
• homozygous meiocytes fail to complete meiotic prophase I and abnormal synaptonemal complexes form between sister chromatids rather than between homologous chromososmes
• leptotene chromosomes are seen at E16.5-E18.5 but normal pachytene nuclei are never seen
• homozygous meiocytes fail to complete meiotic prophase I and abnormal synaptonemal complexes form between sister chromatids rather than between homologous chromososmes
• zygotene but not pachytene nuclei are seen

growth/size/body
• reduced size at E15.5

endocrine/exocrine glands
• dense fibrovascular stoma is seen
• more apoptotic cells are seen in the tubules compared to wild-type mice
