homeostasis/metabolism
• delay in wound healing throughout the whole repair process, with final closure postponed by 2-3 days, however skin elasticity was not impaired
• number of keratinocytes per surface unit is slightly higher at the edges of the skin wound
• cultured keratinocytes at the edges of a scrape wound detached more readily and exhibited a slower migration rate than wildtype
|
integument
• isolated keratinoctyes are rounded and only adhered 4 days after seeding compared to controls that adhered and spread 24 hours after seeding
|
• slight but significant increase in keratinocyte proliferation rate, however hair follicle cycle was normal
• increased keratinocyte proliferative response to tetradecanoylphorbol acetate (TPA) stimulation on the dorsal epidermis and in response to hair plucking of the dorsal skin
|
• slight but significant increase in epidermal thickness, however no defect in epidermal differentiation
