hematopoietic system
• mutant T cells are hypersensitive to antigen stimulated proliferation, however no defect in induced thymocyte apoptosis is seen
• this increase is less pronounced than in B6.129P2-Cblbtm1Hua homozygotes
• a slight yet significant increase in the percentage of CD4 single positive thymocytes is seen
• an increase in the number of T cells with characteristics of memory T cells is seen

immune system

• a slight yet significant increase in the percentage of CD4 single positive thymocytes is seen
• an increase in the number of T cells with characteristics of memory T cells is seen
• after infection with the lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus increased levels of IFN-gamma are seen before the peak of infection and during the contraction phase
• more IL-2 is produced by nave T cells in response to anti-CD3 stimulation
• this increase is less pronounced than in B6.129P2-Cblbtm1Hua homozygotes
• under nonskewing conditions mutant T helper cells produce more IL2 and IL4
• under nonskewing conditions mutant T helper cells produce more TNF
• both the incidence and severity of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis are decreased in mutants
