• B cell receptor induced proliferation is reduced compared to wild-type B cells
• B cell hyperproliferation is seen in response to a mAb to CD40
• B cell turnover is increased in vivo in all tissues
• the percentage of mature recirculating B cells is reduced when backcrossed to C57BL/6 for 6 generation but not in the early generations with a greater contribution of 129 derived genes
• the number of B cells in the blood and marginal zone B cells are reduced however the number of B cells in the lymph nodes is increased
