• the ovaries descend into a low intra-abdominal position over the bladder, the presence of a well developed cranial suspensory ligament prevents further descent of the ovaries
• treatment with dihydrotestosterone from E12.5 to E17.5 results in descent of the ovaries into the groin

• abnormal development of the gubernaculum, with a shorter cord and enlarged bulb, results in descent of the ovaries

• litter size is significantly smaller in transgenic females compared to wild-type however the percent of transgenic and wild-type pups does not differ from the expected ratio
• litter size is normal at E8.5 but reduced by about half at E10.5, E12.5 and E14
