N normal phenotype
mortality/aging
• fewer than expected homozygotes are found at E19.5 and a further decrease is seen in the first day after birth
• Background Sensitivity: when outcrossed to the CD-1 strain for 6 generations, homozygotes display no intrauterine or perinatal lethality and are obtained at the expected Mendelian ratio at P7

endocrine/exocrine glands
• both males displayed swollen testes

growth/size/body
• a 14% and 20% reduction in body weight is observed on P0 and P1, respectively
• the heart, lung, thymus and spleen show a reduction in absolute weight in proportion with the reduction in body weight

liver/biliary system
• absolute and relative liver weight are reduced; however, no structural or functional abnormalities are detected

renal/urinary system
• both mature males displayed swollen kidneys
• absolute and relative kidney weight are reduced however no structural or functional abnormalities are detected at birth

reproductive system
• both males displayed swollen testes
• the one mature female displayed an enlarged uterus
• none of the surviving homozygotes (2 male, 1 female) were fertile
