N normal phenotype
behavior/neurological
• excessive scratching resulting in abrasions and lesions
• at 4-8 weeks of age piloerection is seen

hearing/vestibular/ear
• by 2 months of age most transgenic mice develop epidermal thickening of ear pinnae resulting in ears up to 2.5 times thicker than wild-type

immune system
• at 6 months of age an increase in mast cell numbers is seen in the skin
• the overall proportion of B cells is increased resulting in an inverse ration of B to T cells compared to wild-type
• the proportion of activated and memory T cells in the total T cell population is increased compared to wild-type
• the overall proportion of T cells is decreased resulting in an inverse ratio of B to T cells compared to wild-type
• the proportion of activated and memory T cells in the total T cell population is increased compared to wild-type
• the peripheral lymph nodes are enlarged 2 - 5 fold compared to wild-type
• 67% of transgenic mice develop conjunctivitis with swelling around the eye
• inflammatory cell infiltration and other features of the skin lesions resemble dermatitis

hematopoietic system
• at 6 months of age an increase in mast cell numbers is seen in the skin
• the overall proportion of B cells is increased resulting in an inverse ration of B to T cells compared to wild-type
• the proportion of activated and memory T cells in the total T cell population is increased compared to wild-type

• the proportion of activated and memory T cells in the total T cell population is increased compared to wild-type

vision/eye
• 67% of transgenic mice develop conjunctivitis with swelling around the eye

craniofacial
• by 2 months of age most transgenic mice develop epidermal thickening of ear pinnae resulting in ears up to 2.5 times thicker than wild-type

integument
• inflammatory cell infiltration and other features of the skin lesions resemble dermatitis
• at 8 weeks alopecia is seen in greater than 25% of transgenic mice and by 6 months 80-100% had moderate to severe hair loss
• hyperkeratosis is seen particularly in lesional skin
• at 6 months acanthosis is seen particularly in lesional skin

growth/size/body
• by 2 months of age most transgenic mice develop epidermal thickening of ear pinnae resulting in ears up to 2.5 times thicker than wild-type
