neoplasm
• injection of tumor forming cells at 6 weeks of age does not result in tumor formation
• when the first injection of tumor forming cells is given at 12 or 22 weeks of age tumors form in 50% or most mutants, respectively, but then spontaneously regress
|
immune system
• mutants are able to destroy more of the tumor forming cells such that by 7 days after injection none of the injected cells are found in contrast to wild-type mice where the injected cells are the predominant cell in the peritoneal cavity
• leukocytes, mainly from the innate immune system, form rosettes and large cellular aggregates around the injected tumor forming cells these structures are not seen in wild-type mice
