phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
pigmentation
• white coat with black ears

endocrine/exocrine glands
• arrest at the primary follicle stage

reproductive system
N
• no defects were observed in the postnatal testes
• reduced number of oocytes in the postnatal ovary
• progressive decrease in primordial germ cells in both females and males; ~25% that of wild-type controls at E11.5 and ~10% at E12.5
• in spite of the reduced PGC number in males, normal numbers of differentiating germ cells were observed in older males, putatively due to an increase in the mitotic proliferation of spermatogonia
• arrest at the primary follicle stage
• attributable to decreased numbers of oocytes

integument
• white coat with black ears
