phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
mortality/aging
• 25% of homozygotes died during an exercise regimen of swimming compared to less than 5% of wild-type

cardiovascular system
• heart weight and heart/body weight ratios are increased by about 10%
• develop a regional cardiac hypertrophy at old age, which is restricted to the septum and ventricle muscle layers near the lumina of the heart chambers
• hypertrophy is accompanied by an enlargement of myocyte nuclei and muscle fiber diameter
• increased glucose uptake by the heart

homeostasis/metabolism
• increased glucose uptake by the heart leading to decreased plasma glucose levels
• impaired long-chain fatty acid (LCFA) utilization by the heart, leading to increased glucose uptake by the heart
• associated with exercise intolerance

behavior/neurological
• reduction in exercise tolerance, with homozygotes exhibiting much more exhaustion than wild-type after an exercise regimen of swimming

muscle
• increased glucose uptake by the heart

cellular
• increased glucose uptake by the heart

growth/size/body
• heart weight and heart/body weight ratios are increased by about 10%
• develop a regional cardiac hypertrophy at old age, which is restricted to the septum and ventricle muscle layers near the lumina of the heart chambers
• hypertrophy is accompanied by an enlargement of myocyte nuclei and muscle fiber diameter
