mortality/aging
• fewer than expected homozygotes are present at E16.5 (12%) and E17.5 (18.5%)
• however, normal Mendelian ratios are observed until E14.5, in the absence of developmental or morphological defects
|
• only 10% of homozygotes are recovered at the time of birth
|
• Background Sensitivity: on a mixed genetic background involving only 129 and C57BL/6, only 6% (vs expected 25%) of homozygotes are viable at 3 weeks after birth; the frequency of viable homozygotes is higher on a mixed background involving BALB/c (10%), and reduced on a background that is closer to the inbred B6 strain (3.4%)
