• the ovaries of superovulated females occasionally have enlarged denuded oocytes lacking surrounding cumulus cells indicating that follicular recruitment occurs but some oocytes are trapped within follicles and not released
• reduction of oocytes that can develop to embryos
• occasionally, ovaries show an increase in the number of zona pellucida remnants

reproductive system
• the ovaries of superovulated females occasionally have enlarged denuded oocytes lacking surrounding cumulus cells indicating that follicular recruitment occurs but some oocytes are trapped within follicles and not released
• reduction of oocytes that can develop to embryos
