• mice infected with LCMV exhibit decreased short-lived effector cells but increased memory precursor effector cells in the blood and spleen compared with wild-type mice
• however, populations are normal in the bone marrow or lymph nodes
• cultured memory precursor effector (MPEC) T cells exhibit higher spare respiratory capacity and therefore increased mitochondrial function compared with wild-type cells
• however, metabolic stress response of cultured short-lived effector (SLEC) T cells is normal and glycolytic stress response is normal in SLEC and MPEC T cells
• cultured short-lived effector and memory precursor effector T cells exhibit increased necrotic cells with reduced live cells compared with wild-type mice
• however, no changes are observed after T cell receptor activation or after 1 day of interleukin stimulation
• day 4 cultured short-lived effector and memory precursor effector T cells exhibit decreased fraction of cells in G1 and G2 phase and increase in cells in S phase compared with wild-type mice
