N normal phenotype
nervous system
• AII amacrine cells fail to exhibit glycinergic spontaneous inhibitory postsynaptic currents
• however, narrow field amacrine cells exhibit normal glycinergic spontaneous inhibitory postsynaptic currents

vision/eye
• following exogenous application of glycine, mice exhibit a decrease in the current in amacrine cells compared to similarly treated wild-type cells

N normal phenotype
behavior/neurological
• homozygous mice do not show a decrease in paw withdrawal latency after exposure to heat or reaction scores after mechanical stimulation indicating a lack of sensitization following intrathecal injection of prostoglandin PGE2
• after injection of zymosan A homozygous mice initially display increased sensitivity to thermal and mechanical stimulation but recover more rapidily than wild-type mice
• basal nociception, posture, activity, gait, motor coordination, and startle response are all normal in homozygous mutants

nervous system
N
• homozygous mice do not display any gross abnormalities of the brain or spinal cord
