Mutation details: Arginine 264 (CGA) in exon 5 was changed to alanine (GCA) and a loxP site flanked neomycin resistance gene cassette was inserted into intron 5. The neo cassette was removed through subsequent Cre-mediated recombination. The mutation abrogates the rapid dilation of mesenteric arteries and the acceleration of endothelial repair of carotid actions of the encoded peptide without affecting other functions.
