Mutation detailsThis transgene contains a 2-kb bovine thyroglobulin promoter sequence driving expression of Cre recombinase fused to a modified ligand-binding domain (LBD) of the human estrogen receptor that binds and thus is induced by tamoxifen or 4-hydroxytamoxifen, but not estrogen. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis amplified a cre/ERT2 fragment from thyroid tissue of two transgenic founder mice, designated F248 and F300. Northern blot analysis confirmed transgene expression in the thyroid glands, but not in other analyzed tissues, of transgenic mice. (J:267412)
