Mutation details: An 8.4-kb fragment of the mouse alpha-gustducin gene that drives taste receptor cell-specific expression was cloned 5 to the rat wild type cDNA. Three lines of mice (nos. 28, 47, and 63 were generated. Line 28 was chosen for further analysis because the pattern of alpha-gustducin expression matched or exceeded that of WT.
