Mutation details: A 180-kb YAC fragment containing the entire human MSR1 gene was used to generate transgenic mice expressing the gene under the control of the regulatory elements contained within the YAC. Two founder mice were shown to contain the complete sequence and were bred to generate two lines (lines 2 and 3). Line 3 expresses higher levels of the encoded protein and was expanded and studied further.
